Kelele Records was founded
in late 1996 with several releases from East and West Africa but meanwhile includes more than 25 productions showing in a rainbow from
the Indian Ocean Islands across the black continent the wide range of traditional
as well as nowadays music, finest percussions as well as true Afro Pop and Afro
Jazz as it is famous called of late since Osibisa.
By the way, Osibisa has concluded with us under the name Mac Tontoh´s
African
Machine and the latest recording of them is Rhythms & Sounds, ke-31010. Some of
our discoveries truly come right from the African bush and have the pure traditional
feeling with sounds and texts which surely have never ever been written down but
come right from the musicians belly.
Some others, such as Shadz o 'Blak and Hardstone, both young artists from
Nairobi,
where our branch office has discovered them on the last years talent awards are
so promising that we are sure also the attention of the success spoilt market
will
become attentive.
This music is close to international modern dance floors and first we
hesitated,
whether they are suitable for Kelele Records, but as their African roots cannot be
neglected we think they are in good hands there.
