Since the late 70s/early 80s Them Mushrooms also far beyond the Kenyan borders have created their musical name. After a start as many ambitious African groups have, namely performances to an moreover tourist audience, they soon developed to a self-conscious Kenyan group, which has their fan club in the African neighbourhood as well as in the Gulf states and Europe but anyway is deeply rooted to their Kenyan home and many times  is booked for public occasions as the Kenyan Aids-Awareness-Campaign or the anniversary of independence.
